Balgay Cemetery in Black and White

A sunny autumn afternoon at Dundee’s Balgay Cemetery. Photographed with an old Canon rangefinder lens* that has beautiful rendering.

*If lenses are your bag, here’s more information on the Canon 50mm LTM f/1.4 lens, courtesy of Danish photographer Jonas Rask, whose blog post (not for the first time!) drove me to buy one.

This lens is the best vintage lens I have ever mounted onto my cameras. It’s sharp, it has character, it has old-school swirly yet nice bokeh, it’s built like a brick, it looks amazing, and it costs 1/10th the price of a Leica 50mm Summilux.

It’s great fun to marry the 1950s/1960s lens with a modern, digital camera.
