Let is snow, please, at least one day a year, so it actually feels like winter (says the boy who grew up in Chicago). So far this year in Dundee we’ve now had Friday, Dec. 16, when perpetual forecasts for snow in the city this season finally turned true.
The last proper snowfall I can remember here was in February 2021, in the midst of the pandemic. Feeling a little bit like the Christmas Truce unofficial ceasefires in World War I, people emerged to frolic in the parks, including Magdalen Green, building snowmen, throwing snowballs and sticking their tongues out to catch the flakes. Amidst months of so little happening, and expectations being reset for what might count as a happening, it was wonderful to see so many happy faces.
