Beer Garden at 71 Brewing

Cheers to 71 Brewing in Dundee for opening a brand-new, outdoor beer garden in the back of their West End premises.

How it works: Book a table in advance via the brewery’s website, or just rock up and check in at the gate, taking your chances that there will be a free table. Access to the beer garden is via Ure Street, between Hawkhill and Blackness Road.

Use the 71 Tap & Bottle App to order to your table. On my visit, there were at least 6 beers on draught, including a wonderful new Head Over Heels: Mango DIPA, which was a whopping 7.5% ABV. Thankfully it’s easy to order halves, especially if you want to sample your way around the menu. Other options included the also new Head Over Heels DIPA (7.5%), which is a new favourite, as well as Rivet Red American Red Ale (4.8%), 5-Way IPA (6.8%), and two other perennial favourites: Jam Slam Raspberry Sour (4.8%) and 71 Lager, which is an American-style pilsner (4.4%).

The beer garden has a one-way system, well-spaced tables, a one-in, one-out system in place for toilets, and beyond beer, also other beverages, crisps and even merch available via the app. Delivery to your table is quick. Service is excellent.

If you fancy some great pints in a socially distanced outdoor setting, you can’t go wrong.
